Linux
Under Linux (Unix) Woerdbook / Dictionary does not run, it might run wine.
But fortunately there is another project, DICT (http://www.dict.org).
It takes a client/server approach, very popular for linux.
Dict is a very powerful tool, also suitable for encyclopaedic entries, or phonetics
realised through unicode capablity. For unicode support see: http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/mgk25/ucsfonts.html, especially: http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/mgk25/download/ucsfonts.tar.gz.
For using the dicttools in command line, the unicode xterm should be used.
I myself use KDE, and installed the nice kdict client written by Matthias &
Christian http://www.rhrk.uni-kl.de/gebauerc/kdict/
- unfortunately not yet supporting unicode.
